Sunday, after the Buddy Walk, Tracy, Mom, and I drove up to Yellow Springs to Young’s for A Wool Gathering. I didn’t really have any plans to buy anything unless something jumped out at me. Here’s what jumped.
310 yards of 100% fingering weight silk from Habu Textiles. Although I’ve heard lots about Habu, I’ve never seen it "in the flesh". So pretty. I bought a pattern for beaded wristlets for this yarn. We were also admiring the stainless steel yarn and the paper yarn.
4 skeins of 100% merino laceweight from Knitting Notions in Damson Plum. Can I just say I did a little dance in the Knitting Notions booth while I sang a song about the joys of beautiful yarn? I’m thinking I will use this for a shawl. Perhaps the Wing O’ the Moth shawl? I had my eye on another color for the Bee Fields shawl too, but I didn’t buy it yet. I can always buy it online.
We stopped to watch the dogs herd ducks, and some sheep get sheared. Tracy wanted to buy the alpacas.
We ended the day at Young’s with ice cream. I had a double cinnamon hot fudge sundae. I love Young’s! I can’t believe it was the first time my mom had been there. I only went to college 10 minutes away, and we never came to Young’s? I can’t believe it.
I made one purchase on Saturday after the Buddy Walk. I finally bought the beads for The Secret of the Stole.
I had the yarn already in my stash. It’s a laceweight alpaca in a color called Denim. I bought it at Maryland Sheep and Wool last year. I have no idea who the manufacturer is. I know I bought it from a small alpaca farm, but their name isn’t on the label. It’s a very soft and pretty yarn, and I think it will work out great for this project, even though I don’t know much about the project.
I have a post planned for tomorrow. Can you believe it? We’ll talk about the trials of Pomatomus.
Oh, one last thing, go out today and buy/rent We Are Marshall. It’s out today, and Liam and I will be headed out to snatch it up. Expect to find me on the couch this afternoon, watching and crying.

I managed to escape Knitting Notions with only one skein. I was going to say ha! I win, but that doesn’t seem to really be the case does it? ๐

Gorgeous yarn & beads. I linked right over to join the KAL. Did you go to Antioch? I had friends who lived in Yellow Springs during the late 60’s-early 70’s & loved to visit them – hiking through Glen Helen & getting dairy products from Young’s Dairy. Do they still sell raw milk?
