It's that time of year again. The DSAGC Buddy Walk is September 11th. We've participated in the Buddy Walk since 2007. Last year, Liam walked across the finish line for the first time. This year we hope for him to walk a large portion of the route and to cross the finish line by himself.
We would love to have your support for this event. Please donate to our team or walk with us. I'm going to copy and paste the following directly from our Buddy Walk page.
On Saturday, September 11th, 2010 I will be walking in the 9th Annual
DSAGC Buddy Walk to show my support for the more than 350,000
individuals with Down syndrome in the United States, like my son Liam.
I have signed up to be a team Leader and want to do my part to make
sure that my son and those like him are given every opportunity to reach
their full potential.
Every step I take, every dollar I raise, will help ensure that each
individual with Down syndrome in the United States will be able to do
just that. Last year alone, over $6.5 million dollars was raised
nationwide for local and national education, research and advocacy
programs.
I am asking you to walk with me to make a difference for people with
Down syndrome in Greater Cincinnati and help the DSAGC create awareness
in our community. Please support me in my walk efforts. Your Buddy Walk contribution
will support local programs for people with Down syndrome and their
families, as well as the national education, research and advocacy
initiatives of the National Down Syndrome Society. Our combined local
and national efforts are enhancing quality of life for children and
adults with Down syndrome.

If you're wondering what your money supports, here are a few examples:
- Welcome new babies with Down syndrome into the world by delivering a gift basket full of presents and books and answering the many questions new parents have with individual support.
- Deliver over 150 New Parent magazines entitled, “A New Parent’s Guide to Down Syndrome,” to more than 40 hospital departments in Greater Cincinnati.
- Send out ds medpress e-newsletter to over 85 physicians, nurses, social workers and genetic counselors.
- Counsel and support hundreds of parents in making an adoption plan or adopting a child with Down syndrome across the country.
- Offer over 500 books and DVD's from our Lending Library to parents and professionals free of charge.
- Offer six family events for socializing and networking attended by 7200 participants.
That's just a little of what the DSAGC does for our community. In the past year, I have taken on opportunities within the DSAGC. I am the leader of the Butler & Warren County satellite group. I plan educational and social events for our two county area. I am also a New Parent mentor. What the DSAGC means to our family is something I cannot put into words.
I know money is tight right now, but even the smallest amount is appreciated.
Donate to Pickle's Posse! This kid is all kinds of awesome.
