It’s been more than a week since my last post. I got back into town on Sunday evening, and Monday and Tuesday I have knitting things to do. So to catch you up…
Clapotis is finished!! I am so freakin’ proud of this project. I wore it to work today. This is me before I walked out the door this morning.
I’m still wearing it now. Even though I’m indoors and not cold.
Final stats on Clapotis:
1. Started November 2004
2. Finished January 2005
3. Purchased 3 hanks Cherry Tree Hill Silk and Merino DK
4. Used approx. 2 and 3/4 of yarn purchased. (~ 700 yds). The total yardage I bought was about 900 yards. I have less than 200 yards left. The story about where the rest went is best left untold. It includes tangles, knots, lots of cussing, and a pair of scissors. Ask my sister’s boyfriend. He witnessed the whole thing.
I went to Lambikin’s 2 Saturdays ago to increase the stash. Here’s what I got and what I’ve got going on.
First, I bought 3 skeins of Tartelette ribbon yarn. I don’t know the manufacturer since I threw the labels away when I was winding the yarn. I started the Drop It scarf from SnB Nation while I was at my grandparents’ house last week.
The yarn is black, navy, and turquoise-y shiny. I think it’s so pretty. This is a pretty fast moving project. Here’s a close-up of the scarf so far.
I bought 3 hanks of Cascade 220 for a pair of legwarmers, also from SnB Nation.
And, I bought this.
The blue is darker and more heathered than in the picture. Do you know what it’s for? Think about it, take a second…
If you said the Fairly Easy Fair Isle sweater, then bing bing bing–you’re a winner! I started swatching it up today on my lunch break. The blue is the main color, the rest are for the fair isle design.
I have something else going too, but I’ll show you when it gets more developed.
Last, my sincere thanks to those of you who expressed your condolences and kept me and my family in your thoughts and prayers. My grandfather passed away in his sleep last Tuesday evening. It was not expected, and my sisters and I did not take the news very well. I’ve not had to deal with losing anyone in my family yet, and it has been a difficult couple of days since. However, if there is any good that comes from the loss of someone you love, it’s finding out how many people really care for you and what people will do for you when you need them. Or what they will do for you when you least expect it.
After walking in the door on Sunday, DH told me he had a gift for me. I was totally confused. Why did he have a gift for me? When could he have bought it? On the coffee table was a box. I opened it up and found a framed picture taken of my grandparents around the time they were married. He had found an old snapshot that I keep on the computer desk. He had it blown up and framed. I cried. I’m a lucky, lucky girl. I am loved.

What a sweet gift! Extra points for your DH for that one! Clapotis looks awesome, and if I could ever get a move on on my projects, I’d love to do that one. I’m psyched that you’re doing the fair isle!! Yay, now I can get motivated!
