Somebody in this family has been refusing all food except oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, yogurt, and ice cream. We thought it was just toddler rebellion. Nope. Somebody has hand, foot, and mouth disease. With blisters in his throat.
I took him to the pediatrician this afternoon because the rash had spread from a few spots around his mouth, to his hands and arms, and ankles and legs. The doctor thought it wasn’t impetigo, not an allergic reaction. She asked if he had been sick or running a fever. I said he hadn’t. She said that it might be hand, foot, and mouth since that was going around right now. Sure, enough, those blisters gave it away. We just have to wait until it goes away in the next week. Since he’s not sick and the rash isn’t contagious, we can still do our regular stuff which is good because I am looking forward to swimming tomorrow.
Oh, for anyone wondering about the title of this post…Coxsackie virus is the cause of hand, foot, and mouth.
