To my family members reading this, I'm going to warn you now. You may fall over dead. Now on to the rest of the post.
I don't know how to say this. I like to clean. There I said it. I like to clean. In the past week, I've cleaned out the master bedroom closet (Most of it anyway. You can see the floor now.). I have a clean master bedroom. The clothes are put away. The dressers and nightstands are clutter-free. Today, I scrubbed the baseboards in the dining room. Yes, you read that right. I cleaned the baseboards. For no other reason but to clean them.
Every day I make the bed, gather up the laundry and take it to the laundry room, clean the bathroom sink, sweep the hardwood floors, do the dishes, and clean the counters and stove. Weekly, the toilet gets scrubbed and the floors get mopped. If that's not enough, each week I focus on one part of the house. This week it's the dining room. And, I like it. I like having a clean house. I like it when Doug compliments the house.
For me, this is huge. HUGE. I was a notorious mess (I may still be. Not sure if this is going to stick around.). My bedroom in high school was described as a nuclear war zone. For the past 32 years, I have been firmly in the anti-cleaning camp. This is why my family may be dead right now after having read this. I. Like. To. Clean.
Here's how I do it with two monkeys. They are napping at the same time for at least an hour. An hour is all I need. I don't spend more than 15 minutes doing something. So today, I spent 15 minutes washing the front door and the door coming in from the garage and washing the baseboards. Tomorrow, I'll spend 15 minutes doing something else "big". If I can't do it in 15 minutes, I'm not doing it. That's it. Fifteen minutes to do something that gives me a lot of pride in myself.
Now, if I can only get a hold of the laundry. This is my Achilles heel. I suck at laundry.

Hey, want to come to my house? ๐ I haven’t found my inner cleaner yet. Our house is still a disaster area.

We do 20 minutes a day each and it keeps things SO much cleaner! And we don’t feel like slaves to the house!

I wish I have the motivation. I have a plan in the evening for the next day and it just never seems to happen. Could you run some of it off on me? It is one of those things that I need to clean really good so that I can keep up with it easier. I’ll do your laundry if you do the rest of my house. ๐

Welcome to the darkside! I’ve lost a little of my mojo, but I love to clean too. It feels so good when it’s done.
