The Yarn Situation in Huntington
During some non-hospital time last weekend, I stopped by the Knit ‘n Hook in Huntington. I’ve been there once before last fall just to check them out. My review of the store: it’s small, crowded and unorganized. That’s not to say that some gems can’t be found, but I just don’t have the patience to search through shelves with yarn that is still in the bag or box it was shipped in. There is very little in the way of needles and notions, and the book and pattern selection is diminutive as well. What can I say? I’ve been spoiled by the LYS here. That being said, it’s the only LYS in the area. Shop there for non-chain store yarn and to support the local businesses that are so sorely needed in downtown Huntington. So, yep, I bought yarn.
Cherry Tree Hill Glitter Alpaca. It’s for a Christmas gift that I must start soon since I think that lace will take me a while to complete. It’s super soft and not so glittery as to be obnoxiously teeny-boppery. I knit Clapotis with CTH Alpaca & Silk DK and it was amazing so I’m hoping the glitter alpaca will be just as nice.
Hospital Update
Mamaw is not out of the hospital yet, but her blood counts rose again today. Her WBC count jumped 0.6 points which has been the highest increase so far. She may be released today or tomorrow because her blood counts are now normal or very close to it. Here’s hoping!
Things That Made Me Mad and Confused
1. The backpack made me mad. It spent part of last night in the garbage can. I’d rather not talk about it since I still am not over it. I did pull it out of the garbage, but it’s in a serious time out right now. I need to figure out how to salvage it without putting myself in the asylum. Notice how I blame the backpack and not me. I do not make mistakes. Duh.
2. The yarn market last night confused me. DH and I headed to Middletown to go to a yarn market. The LYS would be there along with others. I got the address and directions. We followed the directions and came to the conclusion that it Does. Not. Exist. We drove around Middletown for about an hour and finally gave up. I’m telling you that street was not where it said it was on the map. Unless it was like Diagon Alley and I’m just a mere knitting Muggle.

I had the same problem with that Yarn Market. A friend of a friend emailed me the street address and said it was in “the Woman’s Center.” The only Woman’s Center I could find on-line was part of Middletown hospital and none of the on-line direction things could find the place. I’m up in Dayton and decided killing myself to get to Middletown and find it after work wasn’t worth it.

Okay first off you better wash my backpack because I dont want any funny smells, colors or growths coming off my beautiful backpack. I think I have made a new goal for you instead of it being a birthday present (belated)..how about you make it a backpack for whenever my first kid goes to school..does that sound reasonable enough?
