You should sing the title of this post to the tune of "Bye Bye Bye" by n*Sync. And maybe do a little dance too.
Okay. Anyway.
After a pregnancy and new baby induced hiatus, I hit the dye pots this past weekend. There was a lot to do. Since my dye space is part of our laundry room, I had quite a bit of reorganizing and straightening to do. It's still nowhere near what I want, but I have a workspace again.
My sister and her family came up to visit, and while the menfolk watched the kidfolk, we dyed our little butts off. First up was 10 skeins of 100% silk, hand painted for my LYS.
Five little yarn burritos steaming away in the pot.
Gorgeous silk drying in the sun.
Next we skeined up 100% superwash BFL fingering weight. We got three 450 yard skeins off the cone and put them in to soak before dyeing. I watched the last episode of Season One of True Blood while we were winding from the cone.
Then we made up our dye stocks with the new dye I ordered.
I really don't like making up the stocks. I hate wearing the mask, and it's just plain boring measuring and mixing it all up. The real fun is in mixing the colors together.
On Sunday afternoon, after Tracy and her fam had left, I dyed the three skeins of BFL. They're out drying in the sun now. One of them is called Ripe on the Vine; it's a deep, dark blackberry purpley-black. I love how it turned out. The other two don't have names yet. One is a sprucey-green with bits of rusty brown gold and golden olivey-greens. The other is a hand painted skein with blues and greens with a dash of golden brown yellow. I hope to have pictures of these tomorrow. I am so excited about how gorgeous they are.
I have a ton of yarn to dye for the shop. I am about to burst with all of the ideas I have. It's exciting times for me right now. Yay for dyeing!

The silk looks pretty! It’s so cool that you’re dyeing–that’s a skill I do not have.

(and now I have N Sync in my head, thanks a lot)
