You take the good…
I started a pair of socks just for me using some Koigu KPPM from the stash. I found the Crusoe pattern from Knitty, and I’m loving these socks. I altered the pattern a wee bit from what was published. I changed the heel. I can’t really tell you what changes I made, I just did it.
I have the first sock almost finished. Quick and easy, which means I like it!
Oh, I totally get the whole Koigu love thing. I must find some more.
I learned to knit socks from a class at Lambikins this past January. I finished my "class" pair of socks, but the socks I’m most proud of (so far) are the pair that I knit on my own with no help from anyone.
They’re comfy and warm. I wear them around the house and to work. They’re a source of comfort on stressful days. While everyone else around me is freaking out over something ridiculously stupid at work, I just wiggle my toes in my handmade socks.
You take the bad…
So. The Who Dey sock. I have to rip it ALL out. Yep. All of it. I made Doug try it on the other day to see how much further I need to knit before shaping the toe. And the sock was ginormously huge. He calls it his sweatpants. I can’t figure out where I went wrong. I even checked my gauge and measured his foot and everything. I’ll rip it out and start over. He doesn’t want me to. I think he feels bad that I’ve been knitting the socks for him, but I could not deal with him having one sock that was monstrous and one sock that fit. That’s love for you, I guess.

Sorry about the who dey sock, but I’m sure that you’ll figure out what happened. The other two socks are lovely. I keep saying I’ll teach myself to knit socks, but maybe taking a class is the answer? I like the idea of wiggling my toes while others are freaking out. Maybe I’ll do that anyway, knit socks or no! Thanks for the inspiration!
