The weather has turned. No more lovely fall. Yucky, cold weather is here. I just hope and pray that when we drive to New York this weekend that there is no snow in Buffalo. Every time we drive to New York for a holiday, it’s snowing in Buffalo and is a mess. But, just in time for coldness, the mittens are finished.
Started: 11/3/05 Finished: 11/12/05
Yarn: Malabrigo, Cinnabar Colorway
Needles: Brittany US10 DPNs
The yarn was held doubled throughout to give a bulkier weight instead of worsted as a single strand would be. The only changes to the pattern I made was for the thumbs. The pattern instructs to pick up 3 sts over the gusset. I picked up 3 plus an additional 2 (well-anchored stitches) to prevent holes; I do the exact same thing for sock heels. On the next round, I k2tog twice to give 14 stitches as the pattern states.
I love this pattern and these mittens. They were very easy to knit, and the Malabrigo is just so yummy. I have plenty of yarn left over to make a matching hat.
Next to finish: Socktoberfest Crusoe socks…

These mittens came out really nice! I went to school in Buffalo, actually, and I can tell you that of course snow is a definite possiblity there–though, here’s hoping that Buffalo surprises us!
