So I didn’t finish the Olympic project on time. I was doing so well. But by the weekend of the Closing Ceremonies I was knitting as fast as I could go. By 5:00 the day of the Closing Ceremonies, my hands and fingers could knit no more. I called it. I was done.
I did finish it. Except for the blocking. I knit a couple of rows for a few days. Saturday night I worked about 5 hours to cast off. Lemme tell ya, picot cast off. Easy, but tedious and long. Sunday, I watched one of my favorite movies, Like Water for Chocolate (subtitled but I understand enough Spanish to follow along), and finished the I cord edging.
And a close up…
And the picot…
Things I learned:
1. Being a monogamous knitter and not a project slut means more finished objects.
2. Lifelines are essential for lace knitting. At least for me.
3. Provisional cast on may use a crochet hook, but it does not suck like crochet.
4. I cord edging is much more fun than knitting actual I cord.
5. Picot cast off takes mucho time.
6. Neither the husband nor the cats are impressed by picot cast off. No matter how much you explain it to them.

Well tell them *I’m* impressed by the picot cast off. Seriously – it’s beautiful. So you get a silver instead of a gold one, you’ve also got an impressive FO! ๐

But you’re a loser with a great shawl!
Seriously–it’s great that you finished it–and I think the colors are gorgeous. I definitely need to make one of these…maybe with some beads added to the edging? Hmmm.
Congratulations!

It’s absolutely gorgeous! I’ve been considering that pattern and now I’m going to have to knit it.
Were you at the Lambikins sale on Saturday? I was there with my Mom, SIL, best friend, her boyfriend and her boyfriend’s brother. We were quite the group. I thought I recognized you, but chickened out and didn’t say anything.

Very Pretty!!! I saw you modeling it, but no close ups of it. The picot edging is really nice. You have inspired me to do one, but unfortunatly it has to be put on the lower part of my long list of things to knit.
See you Monday night.?

Awe, the shawl looks absolutely stunning finished, it really turned out very nice. And for some reason, the DH’s NEVER fully appreciate the intricacies of some of our techniques. They just look at it, us, say “That’s nice, honey” and change the channel.

You may not have made the deadline but the object still turned out, so really, it’s all good!
