I bought yarn last week. No big deal there. I buy yarn all the time. This yarn, however, is speaking to me something fierce. From the pictures online, it told me it wanted to be a shawl. Something floral.
When I received it yesterday, it was still telling me it wanted to be a shawl, but it didn't have to be floral, just feminine.
I poured over my stitch dictionaries last night. What about this? No. How about this and this? Maybe. Ooh, this lace with this edging? No, not quite. What if I changed this stitch pattern and added this panel? No, no freaking way.
Finally, after more than two hours. I went back to a stitch pattern that I've loved for a while. I drew up a quick sketch with a broken crayon that was sitting next to me. It's simple but elegant and feminine, which is quickly becoming my design aesthetic.
When the kids go down for a nap this afternoon, I'm going to get it charted up and ready for me to cast on.
I can't wait.

Fabulous. I love it when your yarn speaks to you and tells you what it wants to be. Can’t wait to see it as a FO
