For not blogging last week. Last week was one of those weeks where nothing really seemed to happen, but everything got in the way and I felt crazy busy.
I finished the slippers. At my grandmas house. I didn’t have the second one finished by the time I went home. I sat and finished them on Saturday night while I watched Friday Night Lights with my mom, sister, and her boyfriend (sister’s BF not mom’s). I felted them Sunday afternoon. It took 3 agitation cycles for them to felt nicely and firm up. I felted them with an old sweatshirt and a pair of rubber flip-flops. They were left on a towel drying when I left. I kept making my grandma try them on as they were felting so that I knew they were the right size. She was surprised that I made them for her. They look really nice; my cousin said that I should make more and sell them. But since I forgot my camera, you’ll just have to imagine how they look. Like the picture in the book actually.
Now all my focus is on the fairly easy fair isle. I’m hoping to finish the body this week. I have 10 inches done. With the big yarn and needles, it should be quite easy and quick to finish this section.
My sister, the one with the long list of wanted knitted items, told me that knitting was not cool. So, the 17 cents of the previous post. You wanna know what she did with 17 cents? She ate them. Yep, you read that right. She ate 17 cents that I had collected for the Statue of Liberty Fund (in the 80’s, the SOL was being renovated and there was a big call to the kids to help support the renovation). 17 cents down the gullet. Now, Tracy, how can you explain that it wasn’t your fault?
Tracy says
I never said knitting wasn’t cool. I just don’t have any patience to do it. The seventeen cents wasn’t my fault. YOu shouldn’t have left it in a place where I could have got it. You know how mischevious I am.

Gotta love that sibling rivalry ๐
I can’t wait to see your slippers, and your Fair Isle–I want to tackle that pattern one day! I love the way it looks… maybe in the fall.
Take care, and have a good Tuesday!
