I picked out this pattern and the yarn way back when we found out we were having a girl. I cast on for it several times, but never liked the way the fabric was knitting up. It always seemed too loose. After finally finding the smaller needles I wanted (but can't remember what they are now), I cast on about 2 weeks before she was born.
I cast on the number of stitches for the size bigger than newborn (uhhh, 3-6 months maybe?) and knit only one pattern repeat. Once again, I have a hat that has crazy sizing. The pattern is from Itty-Bitty Hats which is the same pattern book that Liam's Pumpkin Hat is from. That pattern had crazy sizing too. I really like the patterns in this book, but beware of the sizing if you ever knit anything from it.
As you can see, it fits her noggin pretty well. She still has some room to grow, but by no means is her head 3-6 month size.
Pattern: Pink Paper Bag Hat in Itty Bitty Hats by Susan B. Anderson
Yarn: Classic Elite Premiere
Needles: I want to say US4 double points, but I really can't remember.
The other thing I've been working on when I've got free time is designing. I was thinking about something the other night, and a design idea just popped in my head. I've got a few sketches going, and I'm trying to find the right stitch pattern to make it work. Yeah, we'll see if this idea ever sees the light of day.

I love the hat! As tight as I knit it might work out for me in the needle size called for. LOL
