Skill + 1UP – 2KCBWDAY2
Look back over your last year of projects and compare where you are in terms of skill and knowledge of your craft to this time last year. Have you learned any new skills or forms of knitting/crochet (can you crochet cable stitches now where you didn’t even know such things existed last year? Have you recently put a foot in the tiled world of entrelac? Had you even picked up a pair of needles or crochet hook this time last year?
This time last year I had an idea. An idea for a shawl. I knew exactly what I wanted, but I didn’t quite have the knowledge to put it all together.
In July of last year, I enrolled for Stefanie Japel’s Design Your Own Shawl class. It was money well spent! I gained the knowledge to transform my idea into reality. The class also gave me confidence. I could design. Not just shawls, but anything.
In September, I released the pattern for what was once a little idea. As of this post, there are 806 projects in Ravelry.
Two weeks ago, I released my second pattern.
I have submitted design proposals to traditional print magazines (still waiting to hear back!). I’m working on a new shawl design. I have a notebook filled with sketches.
It started with a little idea. Now it’s all I want to do.
