On Friday, Liam and I attended our first Music Together class. I was a little apprehensive at first. All I could think about were the other kids in the class, not that I knew anything about any of the kids. I worried that there would be younger kids who were doing things that Liam could not (crawling, walking, talking, etc.). I’ve done really good about not comparing Liam to anyone else, but I still wonder when it’s going to smack me in the face. I shouldn’t have worried.
Liam was by far the youngest in the class. Most of the other kids were 3 or 4 years old. We sat around sang some songs, danced, marched in circles, and had some fun. The best part, though, was that Liam actually participated! If he could do whatever activity it was, he did it. He took his two sticks and banged them together, banged them on the floor, rubbed them together. Just like every other kid. He also shook the maracas and the tambourine when it was time to play with the instruments. I was so, so proud of him. He enjoyed himself as well, smiling and babbling throughout the class.
I am so glad I signed us up for this. I think it will be nothing but beneficial. Sometimes, when we were playing or singing, I would sneak in OT exercises, and he didn’t fight me because he was distracted. I think it will be beneficial to speech development as well because some of the songs were really nothing more than making noise (bah bah bah, la la la, and so on).
I’m looking forward to our next class on Friday.
This was supposed to be naptime the other day. He wanted to play peekaboo instead.

Yay! Hope you continue to enjoy it. Georgia loved it, but sadly our teacher changed days/times and it doesn’t jive with our schedule anymore. We start adaptive yoga on Thursday though! ๐
