Fun Times in St. Marys
Sorry for the no posts last week. Life has been busy. My grandma is in the hospital. She has Myelodysplasia or MDS. It’s a bone marrow disorder where the bone marrow is, well, non-existant. It is NOT leukemia. She’s been undergoing treatment for several years now, but lately had been extra super exhausted. When she went for her weekly treatment last Monday, they admitted her to the hospital because her blood counts were so low. She received 4 pints of blood to help bring her counts back up. I went home Thursday night to spend a long weekend with my family. She’s doing much better and her counts are slowly rising. Now, they’re just waiting for her white blood cell count to rise enough to fight an infection should one come strolling along. When I left to come back to Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon, she looked like herself again.
In the hospital, there’s a lot of time to waste. We spent the great majority of our time there. Since Mamaw isn’t that sick, relatively, we could be ourselves, i.e. insane. Thursday night Tracy tried to corner Lindsey in the room to lick her. Lindsey was holding Tracy back by her ponytail.
Tracy got in trouble. Hee hee! When they realized I had the camera…
Cheeeeeeese!
This also occupied our time.

Mmmm, what else did we do? Oh, yeah, I knit. A lot. I finished the second sleeve of Klaralund. Not worth a picture. Looks like the first. And I re-taught Lindsey how to knit. She working now on a garter stitch scarf using an autumn leaves color handpaint yarn.
If You’re in the Hospital…
You may as well have a good view.

Show and Tell
I finished a Christmas gift a bit ago. The flower facecloth from Weekend Knits. I used Crystal Palace chenille yarn on size 6 Crystal Palace circs and DPNs. A very fast knit and easy to do. I’m going to do one more in a bright pink. The lucky recipient (I haven’t decided who yet) will receive these along with some fancy pants soap from Sephora or Anthropologie or L’Occitane.
I’d use it.
