I’ve learned not to make real resolutions, as they’re always busted within a few days. Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about my knitting and this blog, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to make some changes so I’ve set up a few "goals" for myself.
My 2008 knitting goals:
1) Finish a sweater for myself. I’m hoping that this one won’t be too hard to finish because I’ve already got a sweater on the needles.
2) Knit something for Liam. Another hat, maybe some socks, maybe a sweater. Who knows. I’m a very selfish knitter, and I want to change that a little.
3) Knit 8 pairs of socks. The pattern doesn’t matter. I just want more socks.
4) Learn a new technique. I’m thinking I’ll learn to do toe up socks to help me meet this goal.
5) Knit something using fair isle or stranding. I’m thinking a hat or some mittens.
6) Finish a shawl. I’m kind of off lace right now. Everything I’ve started has come to a screeching halt. I actually want to frog everything that’s on the needles now, but I’ve got some beautiful yarn in my stash and there are so many beautiful patterns out there. We’ll see if I get some lace mojo back to complete this one.
7) Knit from my stash. The only reason for me to buy new yarn right now is if I have absolutely nothing in my stash that will work. Yarn for a sweater, yarn for 8 socks, and yarn for a shawl are all in my stash. I’d probably only need to buy yarn for fair isle work and the blanket below.
8) Start a mitered square blanket. This is only to keep me from doodling mitered squares on every scrap piece of paper I’ve got.
9) Learn to spin. This one is totally optional, no stress. I want to learn. If I do it in the upcoming year that’s great; if not, I’ll learn sometime.
My 2008 blog goals:
1) Post on a regular basis. I’m thinking that I’ll post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday about something knitting or yarn related. On the weekend, I’ll do a Liam post.
2) Comment on other blogs. There are a few blogs where I comment pretty regularly. There are other blogs that I read where I want to comment but procrastinate then forget about it completely. I need to change that.
3) Respond to the comments I get. I don’t know if that means e-mailing the commenter or replying in a later post, but I want to respond to everyone who reads and comments. I love getting comments. Who doesn’t?
4) More pictures especially of knitting related stuff. I think this is self-explanatory here.
The other big goal for this year is to finally open the Etsy store. I had a small snafu with the IRS. They didn’t seem to have my married name matching my social security number despite the fact that my name changed in 2000, and I’ve been filing under that name since 2001. That has held things up a bit because I’m anal and I need to make sure that everything is in order. All is good now. They fixed their problem. I’m hoping to get it all ready, I just need to photograph the yarn, this week. Hold me to it. Send me nasty notes to get me to do it. I work well under pressure.
Okay, reading this post, that’s a huge list above. I’m feeling some pressure. Didn’t I just say I work well under pressure?

Post the yarn already! ๐ Did that work. If you comment in response to someone commenting on your blog, does that count as replying to the original comment? ๐

I so enjoy seeing pictures of Liam. He is so cute and he looks so happy. I am determined to make some knitting goals but haven’t got that far yet. Maybe I should try not to procrastinate so much?????

That is one good list you have there.
Spinning hu? I think I know someone that spins. ๐ Let me know and I can teach you what I know – then you can take lessons. LOL Seriously though, I spindle and wheel spin, so if and when you are up to it and would like some help I am more than willing to help.

Clear out some time on Tuesday evenings – we’ll get you going on most of those goals. ๐

I agree, wholeheartedly, those are two fabulous lists! and I see a few that I’d include on mine… if I were to sit down and actually write them up… which I’ve been thinking I should… :^)
Here’s to a great 2008!
