Odessa

I whipped out an Odessa hat last weekend.  A friend from high school contacted me via Facebook asking if I would mind knitting a hat or two for a five year old girl recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).  There was absolutely no way I would refuse.

The yarn is Sirdar Snuggly Kisses, Delicate Stripe Effect DK.  I cast on on US 5 needles, then knit the ribbing on US 4 circular needles.  I went up to a US 5 for the rest of the hat.  I made no other modifications to the pattern except to omit the beading.

I plan to knit another using the same yarn except using different colors–pale pink, pink-purple, and purple.  The little girl's favorite colors are pink and purple, and I'm happy to oblige.

What a beautiful hat, and I’m glad you could help brighten a sick little girl’s day (though I wish circumstances would have allowed you to make a hat for a healthy little girl). I love Sirdar yarns, and this one knitted up like a strawberries and cream ice cream–so lovely!
