When I write a pattern, I do everything, and I mean everything, when it comes to getting the finished pattern ready for other knitters. Apart from the tech editing, that is. Katherine has done that for me. One of the hardest parts of getting the pattern ready is the photography. I don't have it within my budget for an outside photographer or models. I do the styling, photography, and photo editing. I am an absolute novice at all of that so it makes my Type A, perfectionist self a little stressed out.
My sister has modeled both Cala and Springwater for the pattern photo shoots. What you see when you see the pattern pages on Ravelry or in the pattern is just a teeny fraction of the pictures that I actually take. Sometimes the lighting is off or the wind is making funny things happen or the neighbors (because my backyard is the location) are wandering around in the background. Sometimes we just get silly.
Did you know that Springwater makes an absolutely lovely wrap for a cast?
Or Cala makes an interesting accessory if you're doing your best Jersey Shore impression?
Yeah, there's at least one pic like this in every shoot.
