I have no title for this post. Sure, I have a few that could work. When Good Knitting Goes Bad. Why Pride is a Deadly Sin. Why Knitting Makes Me Cuss and Cry. Blah, blah.
It comes down to this. I was rockin’ last night on the Swallowtail Shawl. I had only 2 more rows to complete the Lily of the Valley Chart 2. Then I would be done with those nupp stitches. I was soooo looking forward to completing the last chart. I could see the end. And then I did this. I laid the shawl on the floor to admire it. Look it over and be proud of what I had accomplished so far. I stretched it out to try to get an idea of how it would look when blocked. I liked what I was seeing. Until I looked up and noticed that the stitches were coming off the needles. On both ends. I’m using a circular needle, and all the stretching and admiring just popped stitches off both ends. I panicked. Rushed to pick up stitches and get them back on the needle. I gotta tell you it’s not looking good. I can pick up stitches, but pick up those nupp stitches and get everything back on the needle looking the way it originally did? I don’t know. I did my best and put it away. There is a lot of repair work to be done. I just can’t think about it right now. Last night, I stormed upstairs muttering, cussing, slamming things around. Now, I just want to cry.
I do have a lifeline. I can rip back to the lifeline. Then I’d have to reknit the entire chart again. All those fiddly nupps again. It’s more than I can take right now. Sigh.
Put it in the naughty chair and do a lot of cursing…then pick it up again in a couple of days. You can do it!
Ah crap! Can you tink back a few rows to get all the stitches lined back up so you don’t have to go all the way back to your life line? Hope it is easier to fix than expected.
Ouch!!!
I am so sorry, hopefully you can take it from time out and be able to get everything picked up without having to go back to the lifeline.

Deep breath, girl. We’ve all been there (and cursed like a sailor). I second Tonia’s suggestion. First of all, leave it for a couple of days; it never helps to tackle it while upset. Then, just tink back a few rows until you’re sure they’re all there where they should be. Sure it’s a lot of work, but it will keep you from having to do all of those nupps again. Good luck!
Oh that sucks!!! Just breath and take your time and it will all be ok.
