Recently, I was given the opportunity to test out a lotion bar from Milk + Honey. Considering how dry and scratchy my hands are with this cold weather, I jumped at the chance.

Milk + Honey (soon to be Love + Leche) is a family-owned company based out of New Mexico. They create lotion bars, balms, and soaps from goat milk and honey, all locally sourced.

I chose and received the Unscented Lotion Bar in the Bee + Sunflower design. The Unscented bar smells faintly of honey. It’s really lovely, just the simple scent of the ingredients.

One of the first things I noticed about the lotion bar is that it is a very generously sized bar. It’s got a nice heft to it; it will last for a good while. I’ve used the lotion bar over the past couple of weeks. I slather it on my hands multiple times a day. I’ve used it on my elbows after getting out of the shower. I’ve used it on my feet before bed. It’s wonderful! The best thing is that it is not greasy at all. There’s nothing more annoying than putting lotion on my hands then having to wait while it soaks in before I can start knitting again.

I also applied the lotion bar to Liam’s face. Liam, like a lot of people with Down syndrome, has dry skin. In the winter, his skin, especially on his face, is so very dry and chapped. While he didn’t like it when I put it on him (and this has absolutely nothing to do with the lotion bar and everything to do with him being an 8 year old boy), it did a nice job at taming some of the redness in his face. If I can get him to tolerate it, I’d prefer using the lotion bar on his face rather than his regular lotion. It smells better and isn’t greasy.
