My answers…
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you? As much as I hate to admit it, I am a yarn snob. I look at the yarn available at craft and chain stores and I leave shuddering every time. Blechh.
2. Do you spin? Crochet? No and no. I can do a minimal amount of crochet if needed and spinning interests me.
3. Do you have any allergies? No smoke please.
4. How long have you been knitting? About a year and a half. I consider myself an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter. Fair isle, done it. Lace, done it. Cables, done it. Nothing really scares me anymore except seaming. I suck at it!
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Yes. Not sure what one you’ll pull up when you search but if it only has 3 items in it, it’s not the current one.
6. What’s your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.) Baking scents–vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, chocolate, etc. And clean laundry, lavender.
7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Yep, but I do not like sweet things made with fruit.
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Nothing, but I like to cook if you consider that DIY.
9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? I like most music except jazz and heavy/thrash metally rock. The CD’s getting the most rotation now are The Decemberists, Over the Rhine, Duran Duran, Tift Merritt, Damien Rice. I really like traditional country music, but I think contemporary country is just pure crap. I’m not sure if my computer can play MP3s. CDs are a better choice.
10. What’s your favorite color? Or–do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can’t stand? I’m totally anti-orange right now. I wear a lot of neutrals–black, grey, tan, and so on. I really like autumn colors right now–maroons, dark blues, dark greens. I like pastels (pink, blue, purple) as well. I don’t like big bright bold colors very much.
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? Married for almost five and a half years. Two cats, Roxie and Spike.
12. What are your life dreams? Geesh. Um. A marriage as happy always as it is now and has been. Happy children (whenever they come). A fulfilling job in a laboratory, less managing people. Maybe I want to change careers. Did I just write that?
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? I don’t have a favorite yarn in particular. I love yarn that is soft and not scratchy.
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? Fake, foo-foo novelty crap. I’m not a huge fan of 100% mohair. Or chenille. And acrylic can just go away
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s? Socks. And even though I don’t make a lot of progress, I really like lace knitting.
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? My favorite knit was Clapotis. I like instant gratification with very little seaming. So why don’t I pick more projects like that?
17. What are you knitting right now? Husband’s socks, Ene’s Scarf, Klaralund, swatching for Cabled Shrug from IK Fall 2005.
18. What do you think about ponchos? Still wearable with a classic pattern. Trendy stuff, so over.
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Depends on the project.
20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? Bamboo.
21. Are you a sock knitter? Most definitely.
22. How did you learn to knit? I taught myself with some aluminum needles and ghastly acrylic yarn and Stitch n’ Bitch.
23. How old is your oldest UFO? About a year and a half.
24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird? I’ve always loved Tom & Jerry cartoons. I like cats as well.
25. What is your favorite holiday? Halloween (candy!) and Christmas (presents!)
26. Is there anything that you collect? Nothing in particular. I have a staggering amount of books.
27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? Vogue Knitting and IK.
28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on? See Wishlist.
29. Any patterns you have been coveting, but haven’t bought for one reason or another? Debbie Bliss patterns. I have the first Alpaca Silk book, but no others. The latest Rebecca.
30. What are your foot measurments and what kind of socks do you like? I have small feet. I wear a 5 1/2 shoe. I usually buy children’s tennis shoes. Same styles, much less expensive. I like either cotton or wool socks. I usually wear some sort of unique sock; today’s is yellow with ducks.

Hey, I’m your new secret pal!
Tracy, the good sister says
Hey secret pal! Can I give you some better answers to the questions.
Yarn snob doesn’t begin to describe my sister. She only uses super soft yarn. She has a very “unique” style. I call it “blah with class”. My sister needs organization. At her house, yarn, needles and patterns are everywhere. It’s even in her car and it might even be in her lab.

Thanks for the tips, Tracy!
