Liam’s in time out.
That’s why he’s in time out. That’s my sweater. That’s yogurt on my sweater. That’s yogurt that has been spit on my sweater.
Liam likes to spit his food. The first time he does it, we say "spitting is no" while signing "no" and putting a finger on his mouth. He has three warnings. After the third spit, he goes against the wall or into the corner. If he can’t keep from spitting after a couple of time outs, he goes into his crib.
I hate this.
I feel like he has no idea what’s going on. When he spits, most of the time he’s in his own world. It’s hard to get his attention, it’s like he’s super excited and is hyped up, so correcting him is not fruitful. I’m not sure that this way of correcting him is even the right way to do so.
I hate this because it means that he usually doesn’t eat if he starts spitting. Once he starts, he usually doesn’t stop. Today he’s had 3/4 of a container of yogurt. That’s it. He won’t eat because he won’t stop spitting.
Sometimes I want to knock my head really hard against the wall.

I hope you don’t think it’s a DS thing.
It’s not. It’s a normal kid thing. They ALL do it.
I think your little time-out is fine. Taking away the food is the best thing to do. I don’t think I’d put him in his crib though…that could make him associate his crib with it being a bad thing, then he won’t want to go to bed at night!

Oh…I remember these days! They think it’s funny and try your patience! I’m thinking about ya!

Can you tell I’m catching up with all my comments?
Delphine likes to spit and so did Dominic – it got really messy at times, but did eventually end!
