L to R: Mawmaw Freda and Katheryn, me and Liam, Lindsey and Elijah, Tracy and Tyler.
Before meltdown.
After meltdown. He wanted no part of this picture.
We went home this past weekend. We met Tyler for the first time and saw Elijah and Katheryn out of the NICU. Katheryn is still on a heart monitor; that’s the cord you see in all the pictures.
We also visited my other mawmaw and pawpaw. Seriously, I do not exaggerate about my holler roots.
That picture was taken from my grandparent’s current house. The small cabin is where they lived when I was growing up. We lived there for two years as well when my parents built a new house. The new house is where my grandparents live now.
This is a little closer (click on the pictures to make them bigger). The cabin has a tin roof. It has no central air or heat. The only heat comes from a coal burning stove in the front room. I remember my grandma standing at a coal burning cooking stove in the kitchen making biscuits. There was a ringer washing machine. Laundry was dried on the line. There’s laundry on the line in that picture. There is a dirt floor cellar. I love this cabin. I’d love to own it and fix it up a little. My aunt lives there now. It’s where my dad grew up. This is Scary Holler.

Liam looks like a giant next to those 3 little peanuts!

Hah! I am still snorting out loud at the photo of Liam’s meltdown. Not at him crying but at the cousins stacked up like Tupperware in the corner of the sofa. What a hoot!!

Well it doesn’t look Deliverance-ish or anything. A little rural – so what’s wrong with that?
Poor Liam – what a face!

I just have to tell you that your darling little boy is precious. I ‘stumbled’ upon your blog from the Knitting Friends webpage and was immediately smitten by Liam. My best friend of 20+ years has a 7 month old little girl with Down’s. I told her how beautiful your Liam is and she asked me to send her the link to your page; I’m sure she will find Liam as enchanting as I have. BTW, love the knitting content, too!
