We had PT today. He was giggling and playing in the waiting room before. He took one look at the PT and started screaming. It’s totally stranger anxiety. We made it work for us.
One of his PT goals is "commando" crawling (think of how a soldier crawls along the ground on his belly). The PT would take him and have him sit. He would turn to get to me and she would have him put his hand on the ground to get onto his belly. Then she would encourage and mostly help him to crawl forward. Not once, but twice, he moved himself forward on his own with no help from the PT. His motivation: get to me. I sat on the opposite side of the mat and he had to get to me to get a break. It worked.
The PT thinks that he’ll be mobile soon. They write their goals to be met in 8-12 weeks. If they don’t think that it can be met within that timeframe, they don’t make it a goal. His other goals: 1) stay on hands and knees for 30 seconds 2) reach forward and shift weight between hands while on hands and knees.
You know, I really want him to progress, but I don’t think I’m ready for him to be mobile. I don’t think the cats are ready either.
