Thunder Moon

July 3, 2012 By Mindy

3 Jul

Tonight is July's full moon–the Thunder Moon so named because of the thunderstorms that rumble through the summer.

Thunder Moon is a crescent-shaped shawl that is worked from the bottom up. Short rows create the crescent shape. The lace border is a textured zig zag lace that reminded me of lightning.

I used one skein of Fiber Optic Foot Notes yarn in the color Smokey Teal. The color is a deep turquoisey/teal green with lovely variation in the color. When I bought this yarn last year at a fiber festival, I knew that it was destined to be Thunder Moon. It's just very stormy.
