Welcome to a new weekly feature, Tidbits! Tidbits are things I’m reading, watching, and just plain digging at the moment.
- I’ve fallen way deep down into skincare. About a year ago, I decided to pay more attention to my face. I used to be super zealous about my skin in my teens and early 20’s but gave it up when the kids came along. Sometimes you’re just too tired to do a full routine with little kids, ykwim? My ride or die products: this toner and this exfoliant.
- I love to read. My favorite genre? Mysteries and thrillers. I’m currently reading A Different Kind of Evil by Andrew Wilson.
- Are you on Goodreads? If you are, friend me.
- We baked a Strawberry Jam Cake yesterday. My recipe notes and modifications: added a 1/2 tsp. of Penzeys Cake Spice, used dried strawberries instead of freeze-dried strawberries, and added vanilla to the glaze. It turned out okay. I think my oven runs a little hot so I checked it at 55 minutes and it was done and probably could have come out of the oven earlier. Nothing a little whipped cream or ice cream can’t fix.
- Penzeys Spices. We love Penzeys. Their cake spice is great, and I regularly use their Chicago steak seasoning, pork chop seasoning, and Galena Street rub. Pork chop seasoning and Galena Street together on pork chops is delicious.
- There’s this today. Full disclosure…We haven’t set one up for Liam. Why? There still seems to be a lot of questions as to how things will actually work and our special needs financial planner has told us to hold off because even he’s not sure how things work. Is this another super awesome idea that wasn’t fully thought out as to how to implement it? Par for the course in the disability world, if so.
- Missing this pretty hard. Juliana is the unicorn in the peach/coral costume that comes out from behind the mountain at the beginning. I love her team to pieces. Their average age is 8, y’all.
