I am eagerly awaiting yarn for 2 new designs. I can’t wait for it to get here! In the meantime, I’m finishing up the pattern for my next mystery KAL and knitting on a personal project.
- From Craft Industry Alliance, Craft Industry Fears Major Fallout from New Tariff Activity. Included on the tariff list are so many craft supplies, including yarn. I fully expect prices to rise.
- I spent two evenings this week at the kids’ school for curriculum nights. I noticed a movement away from homework. Any homework is due 4 days to a week later. One of Juliana’s teachers said that she doesn’t assign homework. A lot of the traditional homework is being replaced by learning through play both in class and online; and this is for fourth and fifth graders! And there was a definite move towards giving time to finish homework in class in an effort to teach time management skills. I am absolutely down with this. There will still be bigger projects to work on at home, but for nightly homework, it’s basically gone.
- It’s no secret I love a good British mystery or drama series. I’ve watched a lot of them. I was thrilled to read this: British Networks Plot Low Budget Drama Drive. “Our highest rating dramas are things like Vera, Midsomer Murders and Doc Martin. These shows are not talked about in the media but are the most viewed. I’m permanently saying ‘where’s the next Lewis or [Inspector] Morse?’, those are the shows that have defined ITV over the decade. We’re finding it surprisingly difficult to find writers who want to make those types of shows.” Hey writers, we want to watch things like Vera and Midsomer. More of that please!
- The weather last week gave us a taste of fall. I’m ready for it now. I want crisp air, hot drinks, bonfires, and changing leaves. I also want this sweater.
- And these booties.
- I feel like baking. I think Easy Cinnamon Roll Coffee Cake sounds good. Bonus? I have everything I need to make it already in the kitchen. No extra trip to the grocery store!
