We’re headed off to New York tomorrow night. We’re staying for a little more than a week. I need a break.
If anyone is wondering, I’m officially in the second trimester. We had our first OB appointment 2 weeks ago. We decided to not do any prenatal testing this time around either. But…we had our first ultrasound anyway at that appointment when the baby decided to not cooperate and let the doctor hear the heartbeat. We were rushed into an ultrasound immediately. I was freaked out and not at all surprised. After infertility and Down syndrome, I feel like I’m always waiting for that other shoe to drop. It’s hard to be optimistic and worry-free. As soon as the picture appeared on the screen, the baby was dancing around and having a good old time. The ultrasound tech tried to get a nuchal measurement. Because we weren’t there for a NT screen, she didn’t spend much time trying since the baby wouldn’t cooperate. The only measurement she got was 0.33 (mm? cm? I can’t remember the unit of measurement.). That’s tee-tiny. I think between 1-3 is normal. She gave up though because, again, we weren’t there for that.
According to the doctor my due date is January 1. According to the ultrasound, the due date is 12/26. Liam never measured ahead or on time. So I’m going to take that and run with it for now.
Oh, yeah, I’m still puking. It’s still nothing, nothing like it was with Liam. I think our house smells like rotten meat if the windows aren’t open, especially the first thing in the morning. Obviously, our house doesn’t smell like rotten meat, but, ugh, it makes me sick. I’ll take the once a week thing over every day multiple times a day.
Anyway, we’ll be back next week. Anyone in the Rochester/Syracuse area, drop an e-mail if you wanna say hi!

Glad to have the baby update! ๐ Glad it’s a little easier on you this time too! I know what you mean about waiting for the other shoe to drop. Georgia’s due date was 1/1–she was born 12/18! ๐

Hope you have a great vacation. I was hoping you were going to be in the NYC area – because then you’d totally have to come visit us in CT.
