Finally. Finished something. Finished 2 somethings.
First, the Who Dey socks. Finished in time for the first Bengals playoff game in 15 years. Still being worn despite Sunday’s sickening, barf-inducing game.
I started and restarted these socks several times. At least 3. They are fraternal since I didn’t think it was worthwhile to try to have matching tiger-striped socks. I did learn that hand knit socks for your husband gets you big hugs, big kisses, and clean dishes. Worthwhile.
I finished the Crusoe socks (from Knitty, not sure which edition, too lazy to look it up) for myself. I used Koigu KPPM. Now, here’s the weird thing. The pattern calls for 2 skeins to complete the pair. I used one skein and just a wee bit of the second. I mean, wee bit. Just enough to do about 3 rows of the second sock’s toe and the 3 needle bind off to close the toe. The sock fits me fine and looks fine. I never did check my gauge. So, if you want to knit these socks, I suggest getting the second skein or whatever yardage is called for in the pattern and maybe checking your gauge. The socks look really small, but I have small feet. Also, the math for turning the heel seems to be off for the smaller size (I never looked at the larger size) so be aware–there is no correction that I could find. I improvised. It worked. I’m happy.
The stranding pattern is just genius. Mindless enough to be super easy, more interesting than plain ol’ stockinette or ribbing. And just for the record, these were my Socktoberfest socks. They’re finished. Better late than never.

Is it just me but the Who Dey scoks are finished and so are the Bengals. Mindy, I think you caused the bengals to loose. Just kidding, sorta. Nice pics!

Cute socks! I love the bengals stripes. I was so sad when they lost, too. Losing Palmer so soon in the game was a tragedy.
