jarred baby food. Most of it anyway. I’ve been cooking some yummy stuff for Liam this morning. He has pasta with butternut squash in a tomato-cheese sauce waiting for his lunch. With lots leftover to freeze. And it is tasty! On the stove now is chicken with apple and sweet potato. It smells yummy. His breakfast this morning was regular old Quaker Oatmeal with a blueberry puree. Yesterday for dinner, he had some watermelon blueberry puree (along with green beans & rice and some leftover jarred squash).
I really want him to start eating more table food. He hasn’t quite got chewing down yet so I use the handy, trusty hand blender to blend it to a consistency he can handle. He has no texture issues; he just can’t quite figure the whole chewing thing out. We are always giving him tastes of what we’re eating. He wasn’t too fond of broccoli casserole at Thanksgiving. Really can you blame him? He hoovered the sweet potato casserole. Last night, he wasn’t took a couple of bites of Smoky Chipotle Tomato Soup.
I do still have some jarred baby food for him. Mainly for foods that are too difficult to mush up. Green beans, peas, prunes. I have a couple of jarred dinners for convenience.
I like cooking meals for Doug. I like cooking meals for Liam. I always thought that making your own baby food was kind of hippy trippy. I feel so much better about what I’m feeding him. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it too.
P.S. The camera is charging so I can upload the 189 pictures I have taken over the past month. Not all will make it here.
P.P.S. Keep your fingers crossed. I believe Doug has a new job with more money, better health insurance, and no crazy ass long hours. It should be official soon.

As soon as our guy turned one we stopped the baby food altogether. He eats everything we eat, just in really small pieces. And with him, the tastier the better – he loves garlic and other heavily spiced foods. If it’s too bland he’ll spit it out.
The chewing comes with practice so give him lots of it!
