I got my swift and winder last week. I decided to try it out this weekend and wind my Cherry Tree Hill silk and merino DK yarn that I bought for Clapotis.
Here’s the before:
Here it is on the swift:
On the winder:
Finito! Ready to knit!
I started Clapotis Sunday evening. I have the set up rows complete and am ready to move on to the increase rows. I have instituted a new knitting progress policy in my household. I found that I would focus all my time on a newly started project leaving others to lag behind. So now I knit on a rotating basis. During the week, I find I only have time to knit for an hour or so before bed. One night, I’ll knit on the poncho, the next on the scarf, the next on Clapotis. On the weekends, when I have more time to knit, I rotate projects throughout the day. On Saturday, I worked on the scarf. On Sunday, the poncho and Clapotis. I feel like I’m getting more done and am not getting as bored with what I’m knitting. It tends to get boring knitting the same thing day after day after day.
Tonight, I’m working on the poncho. It’s grown quite a bit since the last picture. I’m not quite sure how much more I have left to knit. I’m almost through the 3rd skein; 2 more skeins to go. So that should make it more than halfway done.
If you’re wondering why I’ve taken some of the blogs I read frequently off my list, well, I’ve been a little disappointed with Blogville lately. All this political crap is getting out of hand. Some bloggers have been very ranty. I don’t mind reading about politics, or other things going on in your life. I actually like it. I don’t mind reading differing opinions than mine. However, I do not like the condescending, demeaning, narrow-mindedness shown by some bloggers. Just because I was born in a "red" state and now live in a "red" state does not make me out to be what you think. There’s been a lot of painting all of us with a red paintbrush. So until these blogs get back to knitting and life in general, they’re off my list. Yeah, yeah, I know they really care about being on my list of favorite blogs. I’m the girl who refuses to listen to a particular Cincinnati radio station because their morning DJs made a bunch of West Virginia jokes (born and raised in Huntington, WV and damn proud of it!). You know the kind of jokes I’m talking about (shoeless, toothless, uneducated, poor, everybody is related, blah, blah, blah). That was months ago. I still do not listen to that station. Actually, that is one of the ways to make me dislike you forever–make fun of where I’m from.
Okay, I’m down off my soapbox now. I will stay off of it. Unless I need to reach something on a high shelf. I’m very short you know.

I took a few blogs off of my list too. Yes, it’s your blog and you can post whatever you want, but if the main purpose of your blog is to be about knitting, then I think that should remain your main focus. And no need for the rudeness. ๐

Your Cherry Tree Hill yarn is gorgeous.
I’m still debating about the winder and swift but after looking at your cute little yarn donut, I’m becoming more and more convinced to jump on the bandwagon.

Hi! I just found your blog during my search for some new blogs to replace a few I took off my list due to all the political nonsense. I work in government and get far too much of it in my “real” life and, for me at least, knitting and blogging are my escape from heavy things.
I love the cherry tree hill yarn–I just finished up a pair of socks with their supersock and it was wonderful to work with–I hope yours is as nice ๐
